FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT HYPNOTHERAPYWhat is hypnosis? A state of relaxation and concentration at one with a state of heightened
awareness. You are always in control. It is a non-addictive power for
good, and is a natural manifestation of the mind at work. We all go in
and out of hypnosis at least twice every day – as we go to sleep,
and as we wake up. There are many myths and misconceptions about hypnosis.
In particular the impression given by entertainers is that hypnosis somehow
involves "mind control" – this simply is not true. You
cannot be controlled or manipulated in hypnosis – nobody could possibly
be made to do anything that they did not want to do. Just imagine…
if that were so, our prisons would be empty and our schools well behaved!
Using hypnosis in therapy considerably speeds up the rate of progress,
it can be very enjoyable and is completely harmless. What is hypnotherapy? Hypnotherapy is probably one of the world’s best kept secrets.
It has been highly successful for many, many years in helping people,
young and old, of both sexes, overcome their psychological and emotional
problems. It’s a combination of hypnosis and therapy. Are there some people who cannot be hypnotised? No. (Except mentally handicapped, although of course the degree varies
from person to person) or those under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Shall I be aware of what is happening?Yes. The predominant feeling of most people is "it didn’t
work for me. I knew what was happening all the time & could have opened
my eyes if I’d wanted to". Is there any cause at all for concern? None whatsoever, hypnosis is a proven therapeutic aid, and wonderful
relaxation. If you wish, June can teach you to do this for yourself. Could I be influenced to do anything against my will or nature? No, definitely not. In fact you would be shocked out of the hypnotic
state immediately. Are drugs or tablets used? No! Can "normal" people be “analysed?”Not only can be, but should be. For an insight into yourself, it has no equal.
